Framing with ProFrame™
ProFrame™ wall studs are used to frame an exterior wall in the same way as you typically would use standard solid sawn 2x6 or 2x8 material.
Currently, we are offering our stud in standard 2x8 dimensions (1 ½” x 7 ¼”). They are fully interchangeable with solid sawn lumber and are available in lengths of 104 ¼”, 10’, and 12’. Much like ordering a set of I-joists, we will provide you with a set of shop drawings that include the layout and a quantity list. Upon delivery, you will receive lifts of studs as you would in your typical framing package.
Studs are to be cut to length and assembled as required. Special techniques or training are not required for assembly. Upon frame completion you will be ready to install an insulation of your choice.
Sustainability & Reduced Environmental Impact
ProFrame™ wall studs use up to 30% less lumber than a standard dimensional 2x8. The fact that it consists of 2 (2x3) pieces vs. a solid 2x8 makes it even more desirable, providing the opportunity to use smaller stock timber and/or creating higher yields out of larger stock.
The added performance of the deeper stud allows for more insulation and less thermal exchange. These benefits alone will reduce energy consumption and your carbon footprint significantly. The use of lumber also increases carbon absorption.
At ProFrame™, we encourage builders and consultants to design wall assemblies with materials that use environmentally responsible manufacturing processes while avoiding ones that use ozone depleting substances.
Compatability
ProFrame™ Ecostud dimensions are 1 ½” x 7 ¼” and are fully interchangeable with standard 2x8 lumber. This includes limited compatibility with hardware that is designed for 1 ½” thick and 7 ¼” depth material.
